Villa Sciarra Park Rome

This is the first iteration of In dark times will there also be singing? It was built specifically for the Villa Sciarra Park in Rome in collaboration with the Amici di Villa Sciarra, a volunteer community organization who oversee the park. The installation, which took place on 11 April 2021, was housed in a small guard hut at the entrance to the park. In weeks preceding the installation, the Amici di Villa Sciarra painted and revitalized the guard house, creating a new community library in the space. And so the event also marked the inauguration of this new community space.

A sonic collage of the recordings was crafted and projected out of a building at the Villa Aurelia as part of a concert organized by the American Academy in Rome on May 20th 2021. The Rome-based string quartet Quartetto Sincronie performed with the fixed media collage of singers.
